Bangkok in August It is not easy to give a general description of our weather in August as the pattern has shifted somewhat. Most years there is not much rain but we can never be so sure how long the monsoon will last. In any case please bring an umbrella though you will not need it at the conference venue as all the function rooms are in the same complex.
There are many attractions in Bangkok that you may wish to visit. The central areas of the city are well connected by public transport and can be covered in a day or two, but never fully exhausted. You may want to make the most of your visit to Thailand by planning some pre-conference and post-conference trips to other parts of the country. The nearest beaches are about an hour or two away by cars. While the world-famous destinations like Chiang Mai and Phuket are around an hour away by plane.
Travel from the airport to the hotel There are several ways to get to the Ambassador Hotel from Suvarnabhumi Airport. You can get a public taxi from the service counters situated on level 1 outside Gate 4 and between Gate 7 and 8. Pick-ups from the airport incur an extra charge of 50 THB and the passengers are expected to pay for the expressway fees. An estimation of a one way ride on a metered taxi to the hotel plus all charges in reasonable traffic should be no more than 400 THB. Limousines are also available with competitive prices. Check service provider counters inside the airport building for their tariffs.
There is also Airport Express Buses ticket price 150 THB/trip.The ticket counter is on level 1 near Gate 8. The Service is available from 5:00 am until midnight. To get to the Ambassador Hotel you need to take the Route AE3 and get off at Sukhumvit Soi 11 then take a 3 minute-walk to the hotel.
We hope all the travel details will not bore you but instead prime you for the upcoming trip. As for the details of the conference, we will let you know the tentative program very soon. Until then, if there is any query please do not hesitate to email us. |
