IAEA 2010

Newsletter 4 - May 2010

Greetings from Bangkok!

You have probably seen in the news that there had been political unrest in Thailand that ended with clashes between the military and the armed forces allegedly associated with anti-government protesters, leading to many casualties. The situation is now resolved, though Bangkok city was left badly damaged by organized arson attacks. The country is now attempting to move toward reconciliation once again and the Thai people are working hard to restore normalcy.

We have received many emails inquiring about the IAEA 2010 conference and would like to assure you that the organizing committee has carefully assessed the situation and decided to proceed with the preparation plan for the IAEA 2010 conference, which will definitely taking place during 22 – 27 August 2010 at the Ambassador Hotel in Bangkok as previously announced.

To date, we have received many interesting proposals and are now working on setting up a tentative detailed program which will shortly be posted on the conference website. I would like to take this opportunity to remind the presenters to register for the conference in good time as the extended early bird rate will end on 15 June 2010. For those who have registered, may be this is time to start making arrangements about your accommodation and travel. There should be many bargains and discounts up for grabs at the moment.

My last note for you in this newsletter is to express how thankful we are for the concerns and condolences on the situation in Thailand that we have received through correspondences inquiring about the IAEA 2010 conference. The country is regaining its strength to move forward, and so are we. With this strength, we will put our best efforts to make this conference a successful one. Hope you will continue to support us.
