Getting Ready for IAEA 2010

Conference Registration
Conference registration is now open. All details are on the conference website where you can also find the registration form. Early bird rates will only last until 30 April 2010. Due to substantial transaction charges, the organizers are obliged to charge US$50 processing fee to the rates previously advertised.

Keynote Speakers
We are pleased to have two eminent assessment experts and scholars as keynote speakers at the conference. At the opening we have the honor of Professor Howard T. Everson, Professor of Educational Psychology at the Graduate Center of CUNY. Professor Everson is also a Senior Research Scientist of the American Institutes for Research, providing leadership and technical direction to the NAEP Education Statistical Services Institute (NESSI). The keynote at the closing of the conference will be delivered by Professor Gordon Stobart, currently Emeritus Professor of Education at the Institute of Education, London, and Professor of Education at Bristol University. Professor Stobart is a founder member of the Assessment Reform Group (ARG), which campaigns for better use of formative assessment in teaching and learning. He is also a former editor of the International Journal Assessment in Education: Principles, Policy and Practice and his latest book, Testing Times: The uses and abuses of assessment, was published in 2008.

Conference Theme
The theme for IAEA 2010 in Bangkok is Assessment for the Future Generations. We have chosen this theme based on our belief that tomorrow’s accomplishment builds upon today’s solid foundation that appropriately matches the projected challenges of the future. Effective assessment can monitor and diagnose the progress of how our future citizens are being prepared. We are expecting to hear about assessment policies, practices and innovations from around the world. We hope conference participants will enjoy stimulating dialogs regarding assessment value, meaning, breath, depth and sustainability.

Proposal Reminder
Due date for proposal is 30 March 2010. Proposals for presentation should be submitted on-line through the conference website or via email This e-mail address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it . As in the previous conference at Brisbane, in addition to regular papers (20 minutes presentation + 10 minutes discussion), we are also offering an option for presenters to organize papers to form a symposium of 90 minutes and submit this as a single joint proposal. There is also a possibility of running a workshop that involves more interactive participation than is typical in paper sessions. So we hope you are giving all these options some thought.

We are looking forward to receiving your registrations and to answering any query about the conference.
